RunaBen

RunaBen is a Hungarian rune (rovásírás) handwriting practice app. This cut covers the alphabet, Foundation words, and the six traditional number signs. Flip shows the dictionary; Strokes traces the selected font; Check compares your ink to the glyph on the device. Pick a rune font in Settings.

RunaBen is designed to keep your data on your device. This policy explains the few cases where information leaves your phone.

Handwriting — you draw on the canvas locally. Check compares your strokes to the rune glyph on the device; the ink never leaves the phone. This is a geometric match, not a handwriting-recognition model.

Purchases & restore — RunaBen may offer an optional one-time Pro upgrade. Purchases and restores are handled entirely by the app store using your store account; RunaBen never sees or stores your payment details.

No account — RunaBen has no account system and no login.

Everything else stays local — your curriculum selection, deck order, card position, learned/progress markers, streak data, Pro unlock flag, settings and your "My Runes" list are stored only in local storage on your device.

Export / Import — the Export Progress button creates a JSON file on your device. Import reads that file back into local storage.

No ads, no analytics, no tracking — RunaBen does not include advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or third-party trackers.

Children — RunaBen does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

Changes — if this policy changes, the updated version will be made available within the app and on our website.

RunaBen — handwriting practice for Hungarian runes (székely-magyar rovásírás).

Getting started — pick Letters (alphabet), Words (Foundation vocabulary), Numbers (the six traditional number signs), or My Runes (your list). Choose chapters, then tap Begin Practice. Quick Access has Continue.

Practising a card — the front shows the Latin letter, Hungarian word or numeral; write the rune(s) on the canvas, right to left. Ghost shows a faint rune. Strokes plays the recorded stroke order when a rune has been captured; otherwise it traces the font outline. Check scores your ink against the glyph on the device — Easy or Exact in Settings. Flip shows the capital rune, the small form when there is one, a memory note and the dictionary (IPA, Unicode name).

Rune font — in Settings pick Noto Sans, Old Hungarian (Zsolt Sz. Sztupák), or Rovás Szabvány. Ghost, chips and Strokes/Check follow the selection.

Search — find a rune by Latin letter, Hungarian name, or the rune itself.

Progress & Streak — the ✓ checkbox tracks learned cards. Blindspots keeps only what you have not learned.

Backups — Export / Import progress in Settings.

Latin-encoded face from Rovás Infó (rovas.info), remapped here to Unicode Old Hungarian for in-app use. Original based on Dr. Hosszú Gábor's Rovás Szabvány. Digraphs: Q=cs, Y=gy, X=sz, W=zs. Some letters (ly/ny/ty/ő) and the large number signs may fall back to Noto.
